Ingredients:
For the Meatballs:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 lb ground pork
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
1 large egg
2 cloves garlic, minced
Salt and pepper to taste
For the Marinara Sauce:
2 cups marinara sauce homemade
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
For the Sub:
2-foot-long sub roll or baguette
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
fresh basil leaves
Instructions:
Prepare the Meatballs:
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, egg, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
Form the mixture into large meatballs (about 2-3 inches in diameter).
Once mixed roll into balls and set to the side
Cook the Meatballs:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the meatballs until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
Add the marinara sauce and Italian seasoning to the skillet, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through.
Assemble the Sub:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Cut the sub roll or baguette lengthwise, leaving one side attached.
Place the cooked meatballs with sauce inside the roll.
Top generously with shredded mozzarella cheese.
Bake:
Place the sub on a baking sheet and bake for 10-15 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly.
Add any optional toppings you desire
